Programs and Services
The Hanover Park County Sheriff is actively involved in the community. Beyond responding to emergencies, our staff provides a wide range of programs and services designed to keep residents safe, informed, and connected.
Communications Unit
The Communications Division is staffed by professional dispatchers and support personnel who handle the department’s essential communication and records functions. Their responsibilities include:
- Answering and dispatching 911 emergency calls
- Handling non-emergency calls for service
- Assisting residents and visitors at the front desk
- Processing and maintaining official police reports, records, and documentation
- This unit ensures that every call for service is answered promptly and professionally.
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division provides the most visible presence of the department. Uniformed officers in marked patrol cars serve neighborhoods, businesses, and roadways throughout Hanover Park. Patrol officers respond to calls for service, enforce state and local laws, and build positive relationships through proactive community policing. They represent the core of the department’s 24/7 public safety mission.
The Investigations Division is staffed by detectives and supervisory personnel who handle complex and serious cases. Their duties include conducting investigations of major crimes, working with regional task forces such as the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force and the Narcotics Task Force, overseeing compliance with police-regulated businesses, providing specialized investigative expertise to support patrol officers.
Assigned to local schools, School Resource Officers (SROs) act as liaisons between the Police Department, students, parents, and educators. SROs serve as mentors and role models, provide classroom instruction on safety issues, conduct staff training, and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Community Service Officers and parking enforcement staff assist with non-sworn responsibilities such as enforcing parking ordinances across Hanover Park, assisting with the city parking permit program, supporting public works operations such as snow removal and street cleaning, serving as community ambassadors by assisting residents, visitors, and business owners with questions or concerns.
